About ANM & GNM
The ANM & GNM entrance examination organized by WBJEEB is one of the most high-volume and career-defining examinations in West Bengal. Successful qualification leads to guaranteed government healthcare service opportunities, providing nursing diplomas in hospital and community health centers.
- ANM (Revised): 2-year diploma focused on rural primary healthcare, sub-centers, and maternal care (open exclusively to female candidates who are permanent residents of Gram Panchayat areas).
- GNM: 3-year comprehensive general nursing and midwifery diploma covering medical-surgical, pediatric, community, and psychiatric nursing in sub-divisional, district, and medical college hospitals.
ANM & GNM 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Academic Criteria
- Must have passed 10+2 examination from any stream (Arts, Science, Commerce, Vocational) from a recognized Board with at least 40% aggregate marks.
- Must have passed in English with at least 40% marks in 10+2.
Age Limit & Residence
- Minimum Age: 17 years as of 31st December of admission year.
- Maximum Age: 35 years as of 31st December.
- ANM: Female candidates only; must be a permanent resident of a Gram Panchayat area in West Bengal continuously for at least 5 years.
- GNM: Male and Female candidates; must be a permanent resident of West Bengal continuously for at least 5 years.
- Language: Must be able to read, write, and express in Bengali and/or Nepali.
