About WB Primary TET
The West Bengal Primary Teacher Eligibility Test (WB Primary TET) is the mandatory qualifying gateway established in accordance with NCTE guidelines for teaching positions across thousands of primary schools in West Bengal.
A TET qualification certificate is valid for lifetime. Qualified candidates become eligible to participate in the Primary Teacher recruitment interview and verification process conducted by District Primary School Councils (DPSC).
WB Primary TET 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Senior Secondary (Class 12 or equivalent) with at least 50% marks AND 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
- OR Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).
- OR Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks AND Diploma in Education (Special Education) recognized by RCI.
- OR Graduation with 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
- Relaxation: 5% marks relaxation in Senior Secondary examination (i.e. 45%) is allowed for SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, and PwD candidates.

Exam Structure (150 Marks | 150 Minutes)
All questions are compulsory multiple-choice questions (MCQs). There is no negative marking.

- Learning theories, motivation, cognition, and pedagogical strategies

- Two unseen prose/poetry passages with comprehension questions
- Grammar, vocabulary, and pedagogy of language development
3. Language II - English (30 Marks)
- Reading comprehension (prose and literary extracts)
- Grammar fundamentals: Parts of speech, Tenses, Concord, Voice, Narration
- Principles of language teaching, remedial teaching, challenges of language classrooms
4. Mathematics (30 Marks)
- Numbers, Geometry, Shapes, Money, Measurement, Time, Data handling
- Pedagogical issues: Nature of mathematics, Error analysis, Diagnostic & Remedial teaching
5. Environmental Studies (30 Marks)
- Family & Friends, Plants, Animals, Food, Shelter, Water, Travel
- Environmental pollution, conservation, West Bengal ecology & biodiversity
- Environmental education pedagogy, activities, and CCE
